It all started innocently enough with a visit to my family. My sister-in-law has always been super healthy minded and on a recent visit home, during a family get-together we were once again discussing healthy topics such as juicing, eating properly, workout routines and eventually SUGAR.
My Nephew, her son, had been experiencing some issues with his health and upon visiting his General Practitioner, he was recommended to go to a dietitian. The dietitian immediately recognized his symptoms as an overgrowth of yeast and gave him strict instructions to consume NO SUGAR. She related how he began feeling better. His brain fog lifted, he had more energy, his aches and pains went away... and I was hooked.
I'd been hearing for years that sugar is bad and can cause all sorts of problems so it wasn't a far stretch for me to believe that it could potentially cause a host of problems.
After the visit, I returned to my office and checked my "Audible" account out of habit to see what the daily deal was. Believe it or not, the daily deal was "Year of No Sugar" by Eve O. Schaub. So of course, I purchased the book and started listening right away, even after I had decided to try the whole sugar-free "thing".
Just WOW! Sugar is in EVERYTHING!!!
I had planned on just not eating sweets or adding sugar to my coffee. But through what I've listened to already, there are two components to sugar. Glucose (what your body can use) and Fructose (not able to be processed by the body). Fructose is BAD! Glucose (especially eaten with fiber) is not bad. So I am attempting to be fructose free and will also attempt to blog my experience.
There is a high chance of failure. I hope that is not the case here as I really need to be healthier, but I will try none-the-less.
